Where do I find cheap letterpress printing companies?
I am a small business who wants to get creative with our packaging and such. I have found many specialty paper and printing companies, but they like to charge $$$
Do you know of a place where you can get unique items for a reasonable price? If you have any packaging/printing ideas, please share.
For example I stayed at the hotel which had a very antique brown looking cover with gold press lettering for their bar soaps. It said it was manufactured in India. The actual paper seemed like it was cheap, but the look was priceless. That look was normal for a cheap company in India to produce. It’s just to achieve that look here in the USA, it gets expensive.
The good news is that there are quite a few good letterpress printers around. The not-so-good news (at least from your perspective) is that since letterpress is today a completely archaic craft (with only minor exceptions), anyone who is doing letterpress these days is an ‘artist’, which translates as ‘not cheap’ [grin]. That said, take a look at the link below for a list of about 40 current letterpress printers, many of whom could do what you want. Good luck!
